Deathly Hallows Redux

I've taken down the Deathly Hallows predictions in preparation for the launch of a new, more comprehensive, and, I hope, more accurate set of predictions that I hope to turn into my bosses and have up later today. Stay tuned, I suppose.

Children of Hurin

J.R.R. Tolkien.

I'm not going to review it myself. Rather, first read this review by Bryan Appleyard, the chief cultural critic of the Sunday Times, who doesn't like Tolkien but sort of liked this book. Then, read this much better and thoroughly enjoyable review by Wheaton English Prof. Michael Drout. Then, if you're a snob who spends time bashing Tolkien, or fantasy in general, as not being worthy of the (rather undefinable) title of "literature," put your fist back in your mouth, and don't take it out again.
